Around the Nickles House

Two kids keeps you busy. Somehow the days pass by so quickly and you can't remember all the things that happened! Anyway, I am trying to take pics along the way.  Here is a round up of the last week.

Ethan was sad to miss opening day

1 Month

Ethan is 1 month old! Time has been very kind to us - since I had such a speedy recovery (compared to my first) I feel like I have been able to soak up some much needed bonding time over the past month. Sweet Ethan is close to 7lbs and 21 in now. We are happy that he is growing steadily after a bumpy start. I think the turning point came when Ethan starting taking reflux medicine. Jury is still out since he still spits up quite a bit once a day. I hope as he continues to grow that the reflux will stop since you can tell it is so hard on his little body.

As for temperament, Ethan really only has a few gears. If he is awake, he is hungry or crying. We haven't gotten to a place were he is content to just sit and look around. I imagine that has a lot to do with his reflux and that he is still very young. Our rule is that if he is sleeping, don't wake the baby! :-) You can guarantee his happiness and quiet with this rule. Ethan is sleeping about 4-4.5 hrs at night. Usually from 11pm to 3am. Otherwise he eats every 2.5-3 hrs.

Oh, and his fav place to sleep-- on you! Or if that isn't available, you can get him calmed down by riding in the car or by running the faucet. It is the little things...

My Little Fashionista

The weather is warming so that means a new wardrobe for A. She is certainly more interested in picking her own gear these days. In general she likes anything that looks like a tutu, sparkles, has a cat on it or is an accessory. I know down the road I may disagree with her choice of wardrobe but for now it is just plain fun. She is a sweet girl that is playing dress up all the time. It makes me happy.

4 Weeks

Ethan is 4 weeks old and doing great. We recently had a weight check and he was 6 lb 14 oz... just shy of 7 lb! He has reflux which sometimes gives him a hard time but we have medicine now so hopefully that will give him some relief. Every morning you can tell he is filling out so we know that he is moving in the right direction.

As of last night Ethan's longest sleeping run is 4.5 hours. He usually sleeps the longest between 11pm and 3am which is great because I have come to dread the 2am hour! I am not a night person....

I love that our kiddos get to spend so much time with Mimi and Gramps. They adore the "G-units."

Big Sis Time

Annabelle is such a good big sister. She loves Ethan so much! She is always asking where Ethan is and if she can see Ethan. She also loves to hold her little brother.

For so long, I have been looking forward to seeing A interact with Ethan. I truly enjoy seeing them together. My heart is truly full when I see A "taking care of Ethan."

Family

It was a busy week for the Nickles. We had some very special visitors, Stephen's sister Angie as I mentioned in an earlier post visited Thursday and Friday and Bryan and Steph and the twins came to visit this weekend.

We had so much fun with the Magers kids. They went to the Arboretum, played around Mimi and Gramps house and Annabelle even had a sleepover with the twins to maximize as much play time as possible with Kinsey and Gray. It was so much fun! Thanks everyone for coming up and making Ethan's first two weeks so special!
