A Family Photo Shoot

I have been looking forward to our family photo shoot for so long! We had a photographer come out yesterday. It was great- he came to our house and spent about an hour and a half taking pics of our expanding family. We even got a pic or two with Tilliebean!

Here is a sneak peek of little Annabelle posing yesterday during the shoot. I can't wait to see all the professional pics. (They are supposed to be out within two weeks).

Just a Minor Setback

It seems that my recovery process is going to take a little longer than normal. Last week I was readmitted to the hospital in order to treat a severe infection in my C-section wound. I was very upset to have to go back to the hospital.... after all we had just brought Annabelle home and we were all settling into our new lives together. I spent five days at Presbyterian on three different antibiotics via IV. Not fun.

The silver lining is that Annabelle did great throughout the whole ordeal and Stephen was a fantastic husband as usual. They both stayed with me the whole time and we finally made it through. I was cleared to come home last Monday, July 25th.

I am still taking antibiotics at home and slowly healing. My doctors say that I can expect the wound to fully close in 10 or so days. We will see. All I know is that I will be happy to be back to normal asap!

Cheers to a speedy recovery!

She weighed 6.1 lbs and was 18.75in long.

WOW- has it been a week??

Here we go.... Annabelle's early arrival has thrown our "normal" routine out the door. I promise I will try to update the blog more often from now on!! Until then we have A LOT of catching up to do.
7.6.11
Last picture of me before I checked into the hospital.

First off, lets talk about last week:

Dr. Lutich decided it best to go ahead and induce me and get Annabelle here earlier than expected. YEA!! A combination of factors went into that decision- high blood pressure, swelling and close proximity to original due date.

So, per our instructions Stephen and I drove over to the hospital on Wed. night at 9pm to get checked in and to get the Cervidil started. I had frequent contractions when I got to the hospital and the intensity continued to get stronger in the two hours that the Cervidil was in place. In fact they were so frequent that the Cervidil was taken out after only two hours (midnight) because they thought I might go ahead into labor on my own. Stephen and I spent the rest of the evening watching tv, sleeping briefly and waiting. PS- at this point I had already started receiving pain meds and some sleep pills.

Dr. Lutich came to the hospital first thing on Thurs. Morning at 6am to check my dilation and start the Pitocin. Turns out I hadn't dilated much at all despite the contractions, I was still at a 1. She began the Pitocin and said she would check in with me in a couple hours.

Time lapses from 6 to 10:30am and I started receiving really difficult contractions. I received the epidural around 11am. Btw- drugs are GOOD!!

Time lapses from 11am to 4pm without much progress in dilation. I went from a 1 to a 4 and stalled. Dr.Lutich wasn't happy with the progress and suspected that my hips were not large enough for Annabelle to fit through. The c-section option was put on the table. I took it! From that point we moved quickly and they prepped me for surgery.

Annabelle was born 41 minutes later!!

39 Weeks

I am skipping my traditional format for this weeks update.

Had my 39 week doctor visit today and received some exciting news. I will be induced Thursday (7/7/11) or Friday (7/8/11) of this week! We just have to wait for some of the blood tests results to come back before she calls and lets us know the definite date.

Here are the details that went into the inducing decision: I am far enough along- 39 weeks is acceptable and full term. My blood pressure is still high (138/88 today). Swelling is down but not completely gone.

A couple complications that will make inducing a little more difficult- I am not dilated at all. So, I will have to have Cervidil before receiving Pitocin to jump start the whole process. Because I will be having Cervidil, I will have to check into L&D the night before the induction.

So, we are waiting again, but I am truly relieved that the end is near. Not long now until little Annabelle is here!

Happy July 4th!

Here we are enjoying the Lakewood parade on July 4th. BTW it was ridiculously hot (Tillie did not enjoy)! The parade was cute... can't wait till next year so we can take Annabelle. Oh, and dress her in cute red, white and blue outfits!

Mimi's Creations!

My mother is so talented!! Check out some of the cool things she made while she has been staying in Dallas on Katie watch.

Bloomers! Annabelle will be wearing one of these when she comes home from the hospital... just can't pick which one!
