This year we kicked off our Thanksgiving by participating in the Dallas Turkey Trot. It was freezing but so fun. After the race, we headed home and took it easy. We watched the parade, part of the dog show and took naps. Relax was the word of the day.
Dinner was low key since Annabelle refuses to eat any standard Turkey day staples. So, it was pretty much Thanksgiving for two ---with a side of mac and cheese for A and a turkey/pea/carrot squeezie for E. Ha! Don't judge, at least clean up was easy!

SMU Movie Night
Nothing better than family movie night on the SMU football field! Such a fun time full of bouncy houses and halloween activities. Oh, and Cars. It was cold but it was a blast. Also, bonus, Annabelle now thinks that I have a bouncy house at work everyday! HA!
The State Fair! Yay!
Our annual visit was very pleasant and Ethan was as amused as an infant could be at a fair. I think he might like it a little more next year... at a year and a half old! Yikes! The weather was nice and I never regret making the trek on a Sunday. Perhaps the absolute top attractions according to the Nickles and Magers clan--- car show, food and rides.
Annabelle is finally old enough to add the fair rides to her State Fair visit. She loved every second spent on the swings, rotating airplanes, flying elephants and wacky slides. I am pretty sure that Stephen enjoyed them as well. She still isn't tempted by the variety of fried foods or even a hotdog! However, you might be able to persuade her to enjoy cotton candy or a snow cone.
Farewell Big Tex- see you again next year.

Family Pics
Back in July we had a family photo shoot. It was an "experience," to say the least. All the kids were in a bad mood (except Annabelle- she was actually smiley in most of the pics). It was hot and muggy. Great combination, don't you think? Anyway, we did manage with the help of photoshop, to get a good group photo. Check out the pics below. My absolute fav is the last pic. Kids are saying, "WE ARE DONE!"

Safety Day
The LECPTA held their annual safety day event at Lakewood park last weekend. They have local firemen, police, pilots ect come out and talk to the kids about what they do and give safety tips. I thought A would love this event. Especially since there was going to be a fire truck, motorcycles and even a helicopter. I was wrong. She was terrified and clung to Stephen the entire event. I only got a couple of pics with her smiling. Maybe next year she will participate in this event.

Family
It was a busy week for the Nickles. We had some very special visitors, Stephen's sister Angie as I mentioned in an earlier post visited Thursday and Friday and Bryan and Steph and the twins came to visit this weekend.
We had so much fun with the Magers kids. They went to the Arboretum, played around Mimi and Gramps house and Annabelle even had a sleepover with the twins to maximize as much play time as possible with Kinsey and Gray. It was so much fun! Thanks everyone for coming up and making Ethan's first two weeks so special!

Angie Comes to Visit
Stephen's sister, Angie and her two kiddos- Kristin and Zack came to visit this week. Of course I say kiddos but they are really adults... I mean college age! It was so nice for them to come visit and spend time with Annabelle and Ethan. Annabelle especially loved playing with Angie! We wish that they were closer so we could see them more often.

Christmas Part 2
Mimi and Gramps hosted Christmas dinner at their house this year. It was very yummy and I particularly appreciate the fact that I didn't have to cook! We enjoyed a day full of food, fun and presents! Our annual white elephant exchange was a success... although I think Gramps was the all time winner with the most "useful" gifts. Annabelle had a great time playing with baby Charlie and Aunt Katie and Uncle Phil. She also loved opening more presents! Mimi and Gramps were very generous getting her a baby boy doll, elmo train set, dollhouse, airplane plus more. She loved every gift!
Can't wait to celebrate Christmas 2014 with baby Ethan in tow!

Christmas Day Part 1
Christmas day is magical when you have little ones. Its true--- Annabelle makes Christmas so much more fun. She is at an age where everything is so grand and exciting. I am not sure that she really understands the full Santa thing but she gets bits and pieces of it. I am 100% sure that she understands that she likes opening presents! And she had a lot of practice between all the gifts she received from Santa, Mimi and Gramps, and her uncles and aunts. It was so lovely and we enjoyed every second of our Christmas day. Here are pics of our morning opening presents at home then breakfast. I will add part 2 pics of our adventures at Mimi and Gramps house later.
Merry Christmas!

Christmas Eve
I love being in town for the holidays. We really enjoyed going to Christmas Eve service at Wilshire with family and then heading over to Grimaldi's for dinner. Its our favorite -- with our favorite people. After dinner we headed home, put on pj's and watched Charlie Brown. A then headed off to bed and we waited for Santa. The perfect ending to a very perfect day.
